Getting Your Vehicle Road Trip Ready

June 9th, 2022 by

Do you have a road trip coming up? If so, you need to make sure you are ready for your adventure. Even though you are probably focused on your destination and your packing list, you also need to think about how you will get there. If you plan on driving your car, you need to make sure it is ready to go.

At Kevin Grover Buick GMC, it would be our pleasure to work with you to make sure your vehicle is ready for your next road trip. Take a look at a few important maintenance tasks you need to complete if you want to make sure your vehicle is ready for the job!

1. Change the Oil

If you want your car to last as long as possible, you need to take care of the engine. One of the most important parts of doing so is to change the motor oil on time every time. In general, you should change your oil at least once per year or every 10,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is important for preventing the engine from overheating. It can also add years of life to your engine because it can reduce the rate at which the internal components of the engine degrade.

Changing the oil can also improve your gas efficiency because it makes it easier for your engine to burn fuel. That way, you don’t spend as much money on gas during a road trip.

2. Rotate the Tires

You should also rotate the tires before your next road trip. You need to rotate your tires at least once per year or every 10,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is important for making sure your vehicle handles appropriately. If you do not rotate your tires, your vehicle could fall out of alignment, which can make it hard for you to drive straight. You should also rotate your tires because this can help you improve your gas efficiency and extend the life of your tires. Tires are expensive, and you need to get as many miles out of your tires as you can.

3. Get the Battery Checked

Next, don’t forget to get your battery checked. Your battery is responsible for starting your engine and powering the internal components of your vehicle. If you find that you need to jump your car from time to time, this could be a sign that the battery is dying. We would be happy to take a look at your battery for you and make sure it can still hold a charge. You should expect to get between three and five years of use out of your battery. If your battery is on its last legs, it would be our pleasure to help you find a new one. Get your battery checked if you want to avoid having to jumpstart your vehicle on your road trip.

4. Inspect the Brakes

Do not forget to inspect the brakes as well. Your brakes are incredibly important because they protect not only you but also the people around you. There are multiple components of your brakes that need to work together to bring your vehicle to a complete stop. We will take a look at your brake rotors to make sure they are not worn out. We will also take a look at your brake pads to make sure they still have life left on them. We can also top off your brake fluid if it is a bit low. You need to make sure your brakes are in good working order before you go on your road trip, and the team from Kevin Grover Buick GMC can help you.
